  1. At homes, 15A lead rating relies on a โ€˜diversity factorโ€™ that a normal electrical load fluctuates and is used intermittently (hairdryer/refrigerator etc.). The 15 A power outlet at home is not designed for repeated, long-time use for the demand levels that charger EV needs.
  2. ย Any connection issues elsewhere in the house can lead to shorting & fire issues.
  3. The sharing of outlets could also lead to overload issues, thereby causing fire hazards.
  4. Many 15A leads have 1.5mm2 conductors compared to the EVSE sockets, which should have a minimum of 2.5 mm2. Using such leads will soften the plugs and oxidi sation, excess aging/degradation of the insulation, thereby causing hazards.

It can handle repeated long-term charger, unlike home sockets, and the chargerย is faster than the usual 10 A multi pin socket.
