To integrate Tecell’s CMS with a new EVSE manufacturer using CCS2, the charger must support OCPP 1.6 or 2.0.1, include a secure communication channel (TLS 1.2+), and provide a standardized API for status updates and transaction control. The manufacturer must also ensure compatibility with Tecell’s data models for charging sessions, payment processing, and firmware management.

Communication and Security Standards

The CCS2 charger must implement secure communication protocols such as TLS 1.2 or higher to encrypt data transmission between the charger and Tecell’s CMS. This ensures that sensitive information like payment details and session logs are protected. Additionally, the charger should support secure authentication mechanisms, such as certificate-based mutual authentication, to prevent unauthorized access.

Network connectivity is essential, with support for both Ethernet and cellular options. The charger must be able to maintain a stable connection to the CMS, even during brief outages, to ensure continuous monitoring and control. Tecell’s CMS also requires the ability to push firmware updates to the charger, which means the manufacturer must enable remote update capabilities.

Technical Implementation in Practice

In practice, the integration process involves mapping the charger’s internal data structures to Tecell’s standardized session and transaction models. This includes aligning event logging, status reporting, and payment handling with CMS expectations. The manufacturer must also provide a clear interface for configuring charging profiles, which allows operators to set dynamic pricing or limit charging power.

For fleet operators, this integration enables centralized management of multiple charging stations, including real-time monitoring of energy consumption and vehicle status. The CMS can also trigger alerts for maintenance or operational issues, such as a failed communication link or an unexpected disconnection. This level of control is essential for large-scale deployments where manual oversight is not feasible.
